Attune is composed of the Hertrich brothers, Johannes and Gabriel, who started their musical collaboration back in 2003 when they picked up guitars and taught each other how to play. They started out playing along to their favorite Beatles tunes and, from there, started to develop their first song ideas together.
Attune was created from a love of downtempo acts such as Four Tet, Bonobo and Massive Attack. The folktronica duo recorded their debut album “Home Again” in 2012. Attune will release its self-titled follow up in August 2018. The group describes the album as a darker, moodier, and more electronic offering with roots in downtempo, trip-hop, and nu-jazz while maintaining in their dreamy vibes and memorable harmonies and melodies. The duo performed a majority of the instruments you hear on the record, including guitars, bass, piano, violin, glockenspiel and sythesizers. By incorporating dusty drum breaks, organic samples and carefully crafted electronics, they built up deeply emotional instrumental layers, that tell their own unique story.
When not working together on Attune songs, the brothers are busy contributing their musical skills in various projects. Johannes was a member of the shoegazer band pandoras.box, who released the albums „Barriers“ (2009) and „Monomeet“ (2011). Since then, he’s very actively creating electronic music and remixes for various artists under his own moniker „Unifono“. Multiinstrumentalist Gabriel plays lead guitar and mandolin in „Young fast running man“ together with Fabian, another Hertrich brother.
